An ethereal, slightly melancholy dream. Art in neutral tones.

Jami Joelle Nielsen (1983-2025) was a self taught eco-artist artist who lived in Santa Barbara, California. She held a degree in Environmental Science from the University of Kansas and worked in the UC Santa Barbara Environmental Studies Program for several years. She lived with a painful genetic degenerative joint and neurological disease, and made most of her artworks in bed. Jami Joelle's body of work combines a reverence for science, nature and the human experience as she challenged destructive modes of consumerism by creating mixed media collage, assemblage and paintings using exclusively recycled materials. She strove to develop artworks that speak to social and environmental concerns, while encouraging dialogue, education and collaboration in an inclusive community. The result pays homage to symbiosis, transformation and hope.
